When Laundry Inspires…
Is it possible to receive artistic inspiration from laundry?
Until this past Sunday I would have thought not.
On Mother’s Day, The Washington Post ran an article called “Following the Line.” Never mind that an article on laundry ran on Mother’s Day–it actually was very cool!
Two 2008 Harvard grads, Alexandra Hunt and Ross Arbes, visited 22 countries from Indonesia to Morocco in 16 months. They discovered that they were constantly drawn to the colorful images of laundry hanging off balconies, over bushes and on river banks.
And I was drawn to their photographs–look at these colors and patterns!!!! Who knew the Muse could speak through drying laundry?
Please click on the photographs for a larger look. I’d have to say that this one is my favorite:
But I love all of them!
Lately I’ve been pretty slammed from teaching and tasks surrounding our daughter’s upcoming high school graduation, but I keep gathering piles of beads and materials and putting them in little bunches to get to as soon as possible.

It’s all in the way we see things, no?

Maybe I like seeing the laundry that others have done, not mine! I am fascinated by the laundry I see in Italy each year…maybe I’ll take some pictures this time!
